| TPTB keep reminding us of the theme of being LOST and needing Redemption. Discuss the Faith of LOST here and what it means. |

Faith is clearly integral in this show.
Look at the imagery we have seen thus far:
1. Virgin Mary statues (ironically filled with drugs)
2. A false priest - Eko
3. Arguably, Ben could be a false prophet
4. Desmond - the time looper, was a monk
I am sure there are more, but its been awhile. Its clear that faith is a strong theme, not just used in imagery.
Rose had a firm faith that Bernard was alive, for one example.
And finally the obvious: Man of Science v. Man of Faith.
Jack the Doctor versus Locke the ____ <-- what is a good word for him to explain how he is the man of faith? He obviously has faith in the island. I am struggling for the right description though. _________________ The path that has led us to this place reads like a cross between a Jackie Collins novel and the Old Testament. ~ 3Putt |

I know what you mean, lol. Uh.... "guy w/ the jesus complex" maybe?
"chosen one"?
"do first, think later guy"? |

LMAO. Yes, exactly Borky.
What do you call him? He's not Jesus or Ghandi.
"Locke the believer in the button" maybe? _________________ The path that has led us to this place reads like a cross between a Jackie Collins novel and the Old Testament. ~ 3Putt |

| I like "Locke the Believer". Or perhaps "Locke the Disciple" - a follower of the Island, trying to convince others to follow in his beliefs. |

Another example of the "faith" aspect of this show is the belief held by the Others in Jacob.
Another - the belief held by Desmond, then Locke, and then finally Eko, to continue pushing that button. _________________ The path that has led us to this place reads like a cross between a Jackie Collins novel and the Old Testament. ~ 3Putt |

there's the dharma/i-ching station wheels. although "course correcting" may be a scientific term for an event, the theory is that the universe is constantly striving for a homeostasis, or a balance between both. personally i think full enlightenment comes when one learns to actively engage both faith and science. evolution may have produced reasoning skills through survival of the fittest (darwin) but the ability to utilize those skills based on perception and interpretation may be a wholly spiritual matter. i'm often baffled as to why we refer to matters of the heart with the physical organ when it obviously begins in the mind. the spirit however is a whole different kind of smokie monster . . .
i think my favorite moment on lost thus far was when eko refused to apologize for doing what he needed to do to protect his little brother. they obviously tinker with the question of whether it's "okay" to kill another based on specific circumstances. kate=abusive dad; eko=gang business; sawyer=sawyer; locke=dad; sun=the "other" on the boat. there's also a real clear message about considering yourself part of a group and anyone else is "an other." _________________
